Wow, this is actually my last message. When I took over as President of this group, (or Princess as some affectionately dubbed me), I thought that time would actually creep by at a snail’s pace, maybe even come to a standstill. What was I going to do! But now it is time for me to pass the proverbial gavel on to Marianne Lawhead. As the old saying goes --time flies! And it literally does. Are you having problems getting a health care provider to provide you with an employee’s medical records or other health information necessary to evaluate and address a workers’ compensation claim? Although the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) Privacy Rule went into effect several years ago, many health care providers (especially the smaller ones, such as individual physicians) are still weary of disclosing... The AALA meeting last month showed us how little we actually know about the green movement. It was thought that being green meant recycling your aluminum cans and paper, but that is just the tip of the iceberg. The purpose of this article is to offer a mode of thinking to manage your law firm and your life and enter what is to be known as the Green Zone. Being in the Green Zone is a state of mind. What can I do every day to make my office environment, my home, my city, my... [More Info]
