Event Description

There's a solid business case for diversity. No one would deny that a diverse workplace can be a rich source of creative ideas and innovative profit-yielding products. But in order for ideas to be expressed and heard, we need to create bias-free and more productive workplaces in which every team member feels comfortable voicing his or her points of view.

Lessons every manager, HR professional and executive should know about innovation, operations, brand and leadership

In this practical and engaging 90-minute webinar, Dr. Sondra Thiederman focuses on the role of the leader in creating a bias-free environment. Successful leaders have the ability to generate a sense of inclusivity in their groups and organizations, so that all members are able to contribute their talents and ideas. Leaders who struggle with building inclusivity often struggle with managing the conscious and unconscious biases that can interfere with workplace effectiveness.

Using real workplace examples, Dr. Thiederman will take participants through the key steps for identifying, defeating and managing bias. You'll gain immediately applicable tools, and the skills necessary to minimize the impact of bias on your leadership and workplace.

In particular, Dr. Thiederman will focus on:
  1. Tools for identifying bias in oneself and others
  2. Cognitive strategies for weakening the foundation of bias and, therefore, its ability to distort our thinking
  3. Strategies for reducing bias by creating an awareness of shared values in the workplace.
  4. Bias-reducing behaviors that can be immediately practiced in the workplace.
Diversity remains one of the most critical challenges and best sources of competitive advantages in a customer-centric, global business environment. This hands-on introduction to Dr. Thiederman's ideas and strategies will help enhance your decision-making and leadership skills, while improving your ability to create a bias-free and more productive work environment. What's more, the ability to model bias-free attitudes for other members of the organization will help encourage the development of a truly inclusive workplace.
